With Glittering Eyes
Last night I was completely enchanted by the New York City Ballet Spring Gala. My favorite performance of the night was Glass Pieces… riveting music, a beautiful colour story, and creative choreography which really showcased the fantastic male dancers. —costumes by Ben Benson, music by Phillip Glass, choreography by Jerome Robbins.
I’ve been taking advantage of the culture of NYC and find it’s always, endlessly, fascinating. There is an interesting performance art piece with an intriguing horror story vibe: Sleep No More. The less said about it the better as it’s really something to be experienced first hand…

Work, in progress ... our "spreadsheet" of where we stand
Swatches of fabric set the tone for color stories. This one is "skin" --- pale colors, nudes, but this being fall there will be some beautiful bruise-y colors too

We have some great coats planned for this season...getting the fit perfect...
Our fit model Nicole from Latvia knows a thing or two about coats... love her feedback.

Spring in your Step
They’re here … our Spring shoes! The Etra Sandal and the Jade Pump. We love how the nude magically lengthens the leg (look out Nadja Auerman), and the cobalt blue adds a pop of color and a smile on the face everytime you look down at them. Both are great all-day shoes for work to evening, or a day of weekend shopping. The photo is of a display at our Madison Avenue store, NYC

Flights of Fancy
Artist Elle Muliarchyk has created a spectacular installation in our Madison Avenue store. Giant origami cranes preen in the windows, a beautiful flock of origami cranes are aflight in the store and festively lit for the holidays. Inspired by Elle’s well-travelled life and a Swedish fairy tale called The Wonderful World of Nils, the project was created in collaboration with Alicia McDaid of Garage magazine.
On the back wall, Elle’s film of 100s of birds is projected beautifully flying in formation. Magical, playful; this installation represents freedom and transformation.

Rockaway Relief
Rockaway is still reeling from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, and people are stepping up to the plate to help. Robert McKinley and Mike D. are organizing The Rockaway Plate Lunch Truck, with the aim of feeding 1500-2000 residents a day, with the help of some of NYC’s top restaurants. The photos above are: a) the Rockaway stock room, waiting to be filled b) Robert manning the grill c) happy and hungry beneficiaries and d) the stunning New York magazine cover by photographer Iwan Baan. Woman on the Street
We’ve always been inspired by the street style in NYC so we’ve plastered the city with images from our Fall campaign —- New Yorkers and visitors can see them in the Lower East Side, East Village, Meatpacking, SoHo, Chelsea, West Village, Midtown, Uptown, all around town.
The star of our Fall 2012 campaign, Alana Zimmer, is a street style star herself —- she wowed us when she walked into the casting with a very chic jumpsuit looking like an etherally, otherworldly woman of confidence + substance —- and her own personal style is featured often in street style fashion blogs. (She’s also a very nice girl who was as excited as we are about the posters around town, tweeting about how she’s featured next to ‘the boss, kate moss’ in the NYC street wild postings)
We are running a contest thru Instagram —- snap an Instagram of yourself in your best ‘street style’ looks in front of one of the Rebecca Taylor postings, hashtag it #rebeccataylornyc, follow us on Instagram and consider yourself in the running to win a $500 gift certificate. Rebecca herself will be choosing the winning look and the winner will be announced on October 2nd, so this is the last weekend… have fun with it and thanks for inspiring us… XX
