Think Pink

Breast cancer is an issue that is near and dear to my heart, as I’m sure it is for many of you.  I’m fortunate to know a couple of fantastic women who are generously sharing their passion and wisdom: Dr. Marisa Weiss and Imelda Burke.

I met Dr. Weiss at an event at our Madison Avenue boutique and learned a lot from our conversation, after which I made a point to learn as much as I could about prevention —- not just for myself, but for my daughters, as now is the time to show them the importance of preventive measures and healthy choices.  There is so many ways we can incorporate healthy practices into our everyday life to reduce the amount of harmful toxins in our body.  (no reheating food in plastic containers in microwaves, ladies!)   I love Dr. Weiss’s Think Pink, Live Green column on her very informative web site, which also includes some tasty recipes.  LA ladies, friends and supporters:   you can meet Dr. Weiss at a charity event at the Rebecca Taylor on Robertson this Tuesday, October 8th.

Imelda Burke is a dear friend I know from New Zealand, I caught up with her on my last trip to London and was so inspired by her and her beautiful shop Content Beauty/Wellbeing.  Imelda is dedicated to finding and developing organic, natural beauty products, a passion which was borne out of the horror of finding out about some of the harmful synthetic ingredients in so many of our everyday beauty treatments. A visit to her shop is a must for anyone going to London and hopefully you can meet Imelda yourself and absorb all you can of what she knows about healthy beauty (in the meantime, her web site is chock full of information and wonderful products:  Content Beauty/Wellbeing).

New York ladies, friends and supporters:  The Rebecca Taylor at 980 Madison Avenue is hosting a charity event on Thursday, October 10th, 6-8 pm, for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Janet Lazar and Team Moving On.  (If you can’t make the event, you can donate directly to the team here).

I’m also proud to design the Flutter Top, available online only, with 50% of the proceeds going toward the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, as they fight for a cure for this particular aggressive form of breast cancer.
